The identity for the Inuit Art Museum aims to capture the history and traditions that are often depicted in Inuit art. The colours selected represents the contrast between the expansive, harsh North and Inuit’s lively culture. The acronym “IAM” is used to create a narrative and spotlight for the artists. A symbol constructed from the characters that spells out the Inuktitut phrase for “artistically done” is also used as an extension of the logo. A series of Inuit characters were developed for use across the identity. They represent some of Inuit life and culture that are still important aspects today.
